Muslims and non-Muslims should stay away from deviant party: Hadi

KUALA LUMPUR: It is ‘haram’ (forbidden) for Muslims to be supportive or members of a party deviating from Islam, while non-Muslims should reject such an outfit which also promotes division among Malaysians.

In an allusion which almost singled out DAP as the said party, Pas president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang said the particular group had been surviving with non-Muslims’ votes without a modicum of respect towards Muslims’ sensitivities.

He pointed out that the party’s “Malaysian Malaysia” concept’s direction was towards the dissolution of races and languages that had become part of human nature.

“Non-Muslims should reject such a party for the safety and security of all. At the same time, Muslims are utterly prohibited from being members, supporters, tools or staunch ally in its struggles since the party is clearly against Islam.

“The party’s political approach can be mentioned as an unnatural concept which coerces (change in) the current situation.”

“It has taken in several Muslims who are willing to be its guise or tools. But this party can never hide its true face for long. Its masks can be torn away at any time.

“Muslims can have differences in opinions, but it is forbidden for them to be divergent in matters of Islamic policies and faith. It is also incumbent among non-Muslims to reject those who threaten racial and religious harmony," Hadi said in a statement.

Hadi also said the party had attempted to revive religious and racial tension and made Islam as its target.

He reiterated the party’s announcement on Malaysia as a secular country, challenge against Islamic teachings and attempts to put a stop to Pas’s democratic struggles, were among the instances of the party’s attacks.

Worse, Hadi said, the party’s latest and brazen move was broach upon matters relating to Islam, the constitutional monarchy, Bumiputera privileges and among others under the Federal Constitution.

“They (the party) are not at ease with several matters which defend (the rights of) Malays and Bumiputera communities, whom have been sidelined since colonial days and remains (economically) laggard even after independence.

“The rights of other communities have never been denied, but most of the poor are Malays and Bumiputera. Such an attitude (by the party) can erode the harmony in a multiracial society.

“Muslims should not be made fools of, by stating that Islam is merely an official religion under the constitution but its followers do not have the right to practice the religion’s teachings in its entirety.

“The position of constitutional monarchy which is a symbol of heads of Islam has also been toyed with.”
