Nothing to gain from choosing opposition, says Musa Aman

SANDAKAN: The people of Sandakan will not benefit if the parliamentary seat here is kept by the opposition in the coming 14th general election.

Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman, who is Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman, said Sandakan lost millions of allocation from the federal government when the seat was won by the opposition in the last election.

"If we pick a candidate who is unable (to bring the needs of the people to the government), we choose opposition, we gain nothing ... If we put a candidate from the (BN) government, at least we know we will get benefits.

"What did the opposition bring us? Nothing.

"They only touched on corruption, they did not speak of security as they have no such power," he said during a gathering with Chinese community leaders here.

Musa said as the Chief Minister he knew the Chinese society prioritises education and business opportunities and these were the issues the government stresses.

He said participation from everyone was needed to design and shape the future of the State.

On another matter, he said the federal government had assured to expedite the expansion of Sandakan airport tarmac to allow bigger aircraft to land, thus allowing more foreign arrivals.
