Penang Umno Youth lodges report against Lim Guan Eng

GEORGE TOWN: Penang Umno Youth has lodged a police report against Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng today for linking the party and Barisan Nasional to graft allegations involving the proposed RM6.3 billion undersea tunnel project.

The report was lodged by state Umno Youth vice chief Jasmin Nordin at the northeast district police headquarters here this afternoon.

He said the report was based on Lim’s press conference on Feb 28 where the chief minister had made several allegations against Umno and BN. The recording of the press conference was available on Lim’s Facebook page and Youtube.

“At 1.30-minute, Lim had accused Umno and BN of using the media to lodge a fake report in relation to graft in the controverial tunnel project.

“He had also accused an Umno leader of receiving graft in the project when he uttered ‘...Mengapa tiap-tiap kali macam ini. Umno dapat habuan. Umno dapat untung. DAP yang tak dapat apa yang kena...’(Why is it like this everytime. Umno got a share. Umno got the profit. DAP, which gets nothing, is always at the receiving end).

“He had also accused the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) of practicing double standards and this is clearly heard in the recording.

“Based on this, we lodged a report against Lim, and we hope he takes responsibility for what he had uttered. We feel he has gone overboad with his foul mouth and insolence,” he said.

Jasmin said Lim’s words could disrupt public order and incite ill feelings among the people.

The tunnel project had raised numerous controversies in recent months, especially on the high cost of the RM305 million feasibility studies as well as the 22-month delay in completing it.

The project’s feasibility studies is a subject of investigation by the anti-graft agency.

To date, five people, including two Datuk Seri, two Datuk and a female engineering consultant had been detained to assist in investigation.
