Pakatan's manifesto on Sabah-Sarawak special cabinet committee irrelevant: Analyst

PUTRAJAYA: Pakatan Harapan manifesto to form a Sabah and Sarawak special cabinet committee is irrelevant as it has already been implemented by the Barian Nasional government, a political analyst said today.

National Professor Council Poll (MPNPoll) member and Sarawak political analyst Dr Jeniri Amir said the current ruling government has already set up the special rights cabinet committee to address various aspects of the states' interests.

“The process to restore the special rights and privileges of Sabah and Sarawak as provided in Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) is running smoothly under the current ruling government.

“Our Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak has shown his commitment to defend the rights of the two states. He has visited Sarawak 59 times, and went to 126 places there. This shows that he really wants to understand and address the issues in Sarawak.

“So, PH manifesto to so-called form a special cabinet is not relevant as it has already been done by BN.

"Whatever promises made has already been carried out and achieved by the Sarawak government under the leadership of its Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Abang Openg.

"This is also due to the strong relationship between state and federal government,” he said at a press conference, here.

On Thursday, PH launched its 200-paged book manifesto at the Ideal Convention Centre in Shah Alam.

It centred on the five pillars and 60 promises to be fulfilled in five years under the PH-led government, should they win in the upcoming 14th General Elections.
