Padang Terap Umno waiting for PM's signal to launch election machinery: Mahdzir

BALING: Wait for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to sound the "whistle" before preparation for the 14th General Election (GE14) can be fully interpreted, said Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid.

The Padang Terap Umno division chief said his division is ready to face the polls.

"What is left now is to wait for the signal before mobilising party machinery in the constituency.

“We are ready…in term of machinery, in fact our motorcycles (machines) are also ready.

“Right now, we are waiting for the sound of the whistle,” he told reporters after meeting with Baling district Education Office staff here today.

He was commenting on a report that the dissolution of the parliament might occur at the end of this month to pave way for GE14.

This was based the tabling of the motion on the redelineation of the electoral borders, which was initially on March 29, has been brought forward as early as March 19, or the latest by March 26.

Meanwhile, Mahdzir who is the Education Minister said the ministry is in midst of hiring staff for the Sik Education Office which has been operating separately from Baling since Jan 1.

He said currently there was only three staff at the office, currenly operating at SK Batu 8, Sik.

“The district education office has become a single entity after the prime minister approved the proposal last year.

“So far, it has three officers and we are waiting for approval to hire more staff.” he said.
