MPK councillor Tee all geared up to contest Teruntum seat

KUANTAN: As a Kuantan Municipal Council (MPK) councillor, Tee Choon Ser has been regularly going down to the ground, solving the various issues faced by the people in the state capital.

The Kuantan Wanita MCA chief is no stranger to the residents here as she has helped them improve the drainage system, address cleanliness issues as well as tackle the longstanding pothole issues in the area.

Tee, an aspiring candidate, now hopes to utilise her experience in problem solving and help the community grow by providing better services to the people in the Teruntum state constituency.

The 37-year-old said as an MPK councillor, she will often raise issues concerning the people during the council meeting.

"When swift action is taken to address a certain matter, people know they can rely on me to get the problems solved.

"Based on the support, I believe MCA is on track to recapture the seat from the opposition as we have been working hard on the ground. The people are confident that I can solve their issues. I have been going around to ensure issues concerning the people here are looked into," she said when met today.

She remains optimistic that the 24,800 voters in Teruntum will pledge their support for a Barisan Nasional candidate after MCA's Datuk Chang Hong Seong surprisingly lost by a 4,437 majority to PKR's Sim Chong Siang in the last general election.

Tee, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) holder, said she remains unperturbed by the huge majority defeat suffered by the party's candidate during the last election and is confident the Chinese community will return to support the party, and its leaders.

"MCA lost the Teruntum seat due to several factors including the political tsunami and Lynas rare earth issue but we are better prepared this time. I regularly organise small gatherings as it allows me to get close to the people and know them better.

"The MCA central leadership's move in announcing their candidate at selected parliament and state seats much earlier has certainly given the people more confidence about the party's preparations for GE14," she said.
