More than 14 million voters registered for GE14 [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 14,806,185 registered voters under the Election Commission (EC) will be eligible for polling during the 14th General Election (GE14), to elect their government which will administer the country.

These are the total number of voters registered with the EC as of the third quarter of 2017.

A total of 222 parliamentary seats will be contested in GE14 including 31 seats in Sarawak.

A total of 505 state seats will be contested at state-level throughout the country except Sarawak, conducted its state elections in 2017.

Among the elements in GE14 include the use of permanent ink, early voting to replace the postal ballots for the police and

military personnel and to allow postal votes for Malaysian living abroad and the media.

Postal voting is allowed for Fire and Rescue Department personnel, staff of government clinics and hospitals, Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency personnel, Immigration Department staff, members of the Civil Defence Force, National Disaster Management Agency staff, as well as National Registration Department staff based at Urban Transformation Centres.
