Perlis Legislative Assembly to be dissolved tomorrow

KANGAR: The Perlis state Legislative Assembly will be dissolved tomorrow to make way for the 14th General Election (GE14).

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azlan Man announced this at his office in the State Legislative Assembly Complex here at 3.45pm today.

Azlan, who is the state Barisan Nasional deputy chairman, earlier sought an audience with Raja Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra at Istana Arau to seek consent for the state assembly dissolution at 2.40pm.

He said the dissolution is in accordance to Article 55(2) of the Perlis state Constitution.

On the same note, he hoped this general election will run smoothly without any untoward incident.

“I am confident that our law enforcement agencies have made preparations to face the general election.

“It is the hope of all people to see this general election carried out well,” he said.

Also present were all the state Executive Council members.

The Perlis state Legislative Assembly has 15 seats, with 13 seats won by BN while two seats, Indera Kayangan and Sanglang were won by PKR and Pas, respectively.
