1,000 ex-PPBM members hold talks to reject Dr M as PM candidate in GE14

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) members are holding talks nationwide to explain why Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad should not be a prime ministerial candidate in the 14th General Election (GE14) next week.

About 1,000 people are involved in the “Gerakan menolak Tun Mahathir”.

Former PPBM executive-secretary Kamarul Azman Habibur Rahman, who heads the campaign, said he was worried that Dr Mahathir might influence the youth.

“We will move around giving talks for about a month to boost awareness among those who do not know about Dr Mahathir’s personal agenda,” he told a press conference here today.

“We are worried as Dr Mahathir has been making a U-turn in politics.

“We need to wake the people up so that they won’t continue to be fooled by Dr Mahathir. Our country is on the verge of destruction if we have sympathy for him. He has already been in power for 22 years.”

Kamarul said the movement was also reaching out to the public via social media.

“We have received invitations from non governmental organisation to give talks. We welcome all political parties to join us,” he added.

Present were former PPBM youth chief Muhd Syazwan Ahmad Zainal, former PPBM Armada exco Abdul Wahazir Abdul Wahabi and former PPBM exco Mohamad Taufik Abas.
