Khaled : Puteri Wangsa might be returned to UMNO

JOHOR BAHRU: Johor Barisan Nasional has hinted that the Puteri Wangsa state seat might be returned to Umno if the people give their support to the party.

Johor BN chairman Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said the seat was traditionally contested by Umno candidates but in the last general election, it was given to MIC to contest.

In the 2013 election, the seat saw a three-cornered fight, of which MIC candidate M Soorianarayanan lost to PAS's Abdullah Husin with a majority of 3,469 votes while independent candidate D Ravindaran only got 973 votes.

Mohamed Khaled who is also Johor Menteri Besar said BN might return the seat to Umno if the voters in the constituency give their support to the coalition.

"We can do it (return the seat) but with a condition because why would we do it if the voters do not support us?

"If you can give your support to BN, InshaAllah (God willing) we will go back to like what it was before," said Khaled.

He was speaking to the media after attending the ground breaking ceremony for the construction of Sekolah Agama Kerajaan Johor (SAKJ) in Taman Bukit Mutiara, Taman Cahaya Masai and Kong Kong Laut here.

When asked if this would involve a seat swap, Khaled jokingly said it's a hint.

"That is what I meant (returning Puteri Wangsa to Umno). That was a hint from me."
