PAN to contest 2 parliamentary, 3 state seats in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Amanah Negara (PAN) Sabah has decided to contest five seats despite early disapproval from Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) on seat negotiations.

The state party chairman Hamzah Abdullah said during the initial discussion with the national opposition pact, two parliamentary and two state seats were allocated to PAN.

However, Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal had recently said that PAN should not contest any seat.

“It has been decided in national opposition pact meeting two months ago, which is nothing to do with Warisan, that we will be standing.

“For now, we are taking additional state seat which is Tanjung Aru as PAN has provided good services at the constituency,” Hamzah said when contacted.

Other two state seats are Bugaya and Merotai seats, while parliamentary seats are Batu Sapi and Kalabakan.

When asked either PAN will heed the advise of Shafie on not contesting to make way for Warisan candidates, Hamzah considered the seat negotiations were among the national opposition pact.

Early this month, the national opposition pact and Warisan had agreed to work together in the general election to topple the government.

As of now, DAP has finalised its three parliamentary seats in Sandakan, Tenom and Kota Kinabalu while seven state seats are Likas, Luyang, Kapayan, Bingkor, Elopura, Tanjung Papat,Sri Tanjung.

PKR will contest in six parliamentary seats - Ranau, Pensiangan, Tuaran, Tawau, Putatan and Beaufort and state seats - Api Api, Inanam, Kuala Penyu, Matunggong, Moyog, Tamparuli, Kadamaian, Tempasuk and Karanaan.
