Newcomers face-off veteran in Bukit Bintang

KUALA LUMPUR: The Bukit Bintang Parliamentary seat will see a three cornered fight between PKR candidate Fong Kui Lun, Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Ann Tan Ean Ean and Penang Front Party (PFP), Khairul Husni Othman.

In the 13th General Election, Fong then contesting under the DAP ticket beat BN’s Frankie Gan with a 19,399 majorty.

Meanwhile, Tan when after filing her nomination papers today said that she was surprised with the presence of third candidate for the Kuala Lumpur urban seat.

“I do not expect a three cornered fight here, it will not threaten us, as we are already reaching out the people in the constituency,” she said.

She said the response from the people when meeting them was quite positive, and is confident of winning the seat.

PFP, Khairul Husni said he took about a month to think thoroughly on whether to go for the Bukit Bintang seat.

Despite realiSing that it would be tough for him to win the seat, the 42-year old is nevertheless positive and wants to take up pertinent issues involving the local constituents especially facing problems form the ever increasing of number of foreigners in the area.

“My main aim is to help them, look into their welfare which is why asked the party to nominate me here,” he said adding that he is a Bukit Bintang resident.

Tan and Khairul will have a fight in their hand as they take on Fong who has held the seat since 1999.
