Legal aid services for women if given the mandate - Datuk Heng Seai Kie

IPOH: Barisan Nasional will establish a legal advisory and aid centre (LAWA) specifically for women as part of its eight-point manifesto for Gopeng.

The coalition’s parliament candidate for GE14 Datuk Heng Seai Kie said her eight point manifesto will include solutions to overcome issues raised by the electorate at the constituency, near, here.

She said LAWA would enable women especially those facing domestic abuse, sexual harassment, and others in Gopeng to seek the necessary legal advice.

“For the first time in over 60 years, Gopeng has a women candidate contesting for the area and one of my focus will be on women and youth.

“We will also set up counseling workshops called “Budaya Hidup Ceria Gopeng” to those facing with mental health issues and depression,” she said when met at a press conference in Simpang Pulai, here today.

The Wanita MCA chief said there are various problems faced by the Gopeng residents here which had been neglected over the years.

“I had been monitoring the area for the last ten months and there are many issues faced by the residents here.

“BN Simpang Pulai state seat candidate Liew Yee Lin and I have met with the people and identified 30 areas faced with flash flood an average seven times seven times a year where water could rise up to 2 metres high.

“We have also been in discussion with the Perak Menteri Besar office to solve the issue involving the water mitigation process, which is part of our agenda to help the people here,” she said.

Heng also added Liew and her has been doing more that the incumbent Gopeng member of parliament has done compared to his 10 year tenure as the people’s representative here.
