PKR never asked Umno veterans to support its ceramah - Dr Wan Azizah

SEREMBAN: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) had never asked Umno veterans to supports its fight and that the decision to attend the opposition’s ceramah was an individual choice, said its president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

She said former ministers Tun Daim Zainuddin and Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz, who attended a PKR ceramah in Melaka recently, came on their own will.

“We (PKR) had never forced them to attend our campaign. It is an individual choice,” she told reporters after attending a people’s get-together with PKR president in Gedong Lalang, Ampangan, here, today.

Another Umno veteran, Tan Sri Dr Rais Yatim, was expected to attend opposition ceramah in Batu Kikir, Jempol and Jelebu, starting from tonight (Sunday).

In her speech, Dr Wan Azizah argued Pas’ decision not to contest in Rantau state constituency, which led to no-contest win for state Barisan Nasional chief Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, after PKR’s candidate Dr S. Streram was barred from the nomination centre.

Also present were PKR information chief, Tian Chua and PKR candidate for Ampangan state seat, Dr Mohamad Rafie Ab Malek.
