Dr Zambry's meet-the-people programme, a great example for other leaders; former MB

IPOH: Former Perak Menteri Besar Tan Sri Mohd Tajol Rosli Ghazali described a meet-the-people programme mooted by Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir as unique and which should be an example for leaders in the country.

“The programme is like UTC (Urban Transformation Centre). When he goes to the ground he will not be alone. He will take all his ‘tour’ team (state committee chairmen and department directors).

“People want to meet him and the state committee chairmen personally. This is a good initiative especially for the rakyat because most of them are eager to meet their leader,” he said.

Tajol Rosli said that just like UTC, there were so many departments and agencies under one roof and this could be seen in the meet-the-people programme.

“He will also bring health officers to do medical check-up, education sponsorship such as MARA and agricultural bodies to assist the people,” he added.

Tajol Rosli said this initiative started after Barisan Nasional (BN) took over the state and it had been going on for almost five years.

“This is a great example for leaders in other states to follow,” said Tajol Rusli who was ninth Menteri Besar from December 1999 to March 2008.

Meet-the-people programme started in 2010 with the motto “Tiada Tertinggal, Tiada Terpinggir” (none left out, none left behind). The programme which usually takes five days also stresses on a 3F concept which is Field, Feel and Fill.

During the programme, issues pertaining to the community would be solved and development projects would also be injected. Among the projects are Greater Kamunting, Amanjaya Maritime Centre, Watercity Perak, Heavy Industry, Eco-Tourism and Cluster Autocity.
