Upko top leadership arrives at Shafie Apdal's residence, inviting questions

KOTA KINABALU: United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (Upko) acting president Datuk Seri Madius Tangau arrives at Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal’s residence at 11.35am today, inviting questions about the next move by the Barisan Nasional component.

Madius is accompanied by party secretary-general Datuk Donald Mojuntin, where they were welcomed by Parti Warisan Sabah-led pact leaders as they arrived to meet the Warisan president.

Shafie is now having a private discussion with the two leaders as a press conference expected after that .

It is speculated that the visit entails a possibility of the pact with Warisan, PKR and DAP.

Upko secured five state seats in the 14th General Election including one parliamentary seat.

The formation of the new state government hit a roadblock when both BN and the opposition pact were tied at 29 seats each.

The other two remaining seats from the total 60 state seats were won by local opposition Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star) led by Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan, but the party has yet to make a stand on their next move towards selecting whose side to form the state government.

Earlier, Shafie arrived at the Istana Negeri outside foyer believed to meet the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin but was not allowed to go through as there was a police road block.
