Pas tells Dr M: Finalise cabinet first before taking 'drastic action'

KOTA BHARU: Pas has urged Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to finalise his full cabinet lineup first before taking any drastic action, including on the new federal government’s probe on Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Pas deputy president, Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, said the situation could also have a negative impact on Malaysia’s image abroad.

“Pas welcome any investigation or action to be taken on any individual. This is on the condition that it is done fairly, and that it should not be based on revenge against any one party.

“The new Federal government under Pakatan Harapan must be carefully arranged first. Do not be hasty in launching an investigation and sacking ‘key people’, when even the full cabinet has yet to be formed.

“Pas is adopting the approach of not accusing anyone until they are proven guilty in a court of law,” he told a press conference at a Demit state legislative assembly event on Sunday.

At the same time, the Kubang Kerian Member of Parliament also hoped that Pakatan Harapan would fulfil its pledge to provide 20 per cent of oil royalty to Kelantan and Terengganu.

“We also hope that the new government is better than Barisan Nasional; the people will judge PH in five years,” he said.

Earlier, Tuan Ibrahim said the actions of several BN representatives in Sabah and Perak who crossed over to PH can serve as a lesson for Pas.

“This phenomenon can serve as a lesson for Pas to continue remaining strong. Pas has lost before, had aid cut off, but we have to keep the faith and not abandon the party,” he said.
