Anwar tells PH reps to honour commitments; says not time for revenge

PERMATANG PAUH: All Pakatan Harapan elected representatives should honour their commitments or risk being booted out by the people, Pakatan Harapan de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim cautioned.

Stressing that now is not the time to seek revenge, he said all those voted into power in the 14th General Election should uphold the trust given to them, practice moderation and avoid from extravagance and corruption like the previous regime.

“There is no need for us to attack our opponents.

“We should refrain from doing what they were doing. That is our responsibility.

“There is no room for revenge, which is a disease of the heart. We should uphold the rule of law,” he told newsmen on his first trip back to his hometown in Permatang Pauh today.

He thanked the people for their continous support, which contributed to PH’s victory in the recent polls.

Anwar said the public are now more conscious-concern and would closely assess the performance of all in power.

“The transformation this time around is phenomenal and systemic.

“Now, we see a freer media, society, more critical, unlike the previous regime where everything is being controlled.

“So, we are now being closely monitored and our performance will be carefully monitored by the people,” he added.

Asked if he will be back to be with the people again this Hari Raya, Anwar said:

“I will be home but I have to check with the Deputy Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail).

“I have to follow her schedule.” he said.
