PKR meeting: Venue changed from DPM's official residence to One World Hotel

KUALA LUMPUR: It was earlier announced that PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will meet PKR election candidates at the official residence of the deputy Prime Minister, Sri Satria, in Putrajaya.

However, following a concern raised on Twitter with PKR election director Nurul Izzah Anwar, the venue for the meeting is now changed to a hotel in Petaling Jaya.

Referring to an invitation letter sent to PKR leaders to attend the meeting, Twitter user @ibnzakuan tweeted to Nurul Izzah at 12.41pm asking, "YB @n_izzah does this not count as using government property for party programmes? Please justify."

At 4.12pm, Nurul Izzah replied, "Thank you for the concern raised. The concern with regards to dual roles of Party President and Office Holder of DPM is duly noted and JPRP (PKR Central Election Committee) has fixed the meeting to be held at One World Hotel, Selangor."

Nurul Izzah was referring to Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail who is PKR president as well as the Deputy Prime Minister.

This is said to be Anwar's first meeting with all PKR candidates who had contested in the 14th General Election (GE14).

PKR vice-president earlier shot down rumours of plotting when asked to comment on attendance said to be compulsory for the meeting, saying, "There is no major plot. We have nothing to plot. We are already the government."

He informed that Anwar will be talking about his prison experience, a briefing on the future of the party and buka puasa.
