KUALA LUMPUR: Umno Youth will establish a task force to monitor the prices of goods after the implementation of the Sales and Services Tax (SST) next month.
Umno Youth chief Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the task force team would make sure that the implementation of SST would not increase the price of goods and services as promised by the Pakatan Harapan government in their manifesto.
“We will mobilise over 20,000 Umno branches to be part of the task force,” he said.
He also said that Umno Youth would launch a social media platform where the public can lodge complaints regarding the price increase.
He said the task force will be led by Umno Youth Information chief Mohd Shahar Abdullah.
When asked if Umno Youth will be assisting MCA in the Balakong by-election on Sept 8, Asyraf said he was still waiting for a green light from the Barisan Nasional political bureau.
During the meeting, he also announced the appointment of nine youth exco members for the 2018-2021 term.
