Bung Moktar uses foul language in Parliament [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin (BN-Kinabatangan) caused a stir in the Dewan Rakyat today when he shouted out ‘F*** y**’.

Known for his colourful use of language, the lawmaker hurled the foul phrase at Willie Mongin (PH:Puncak Borneo) when the latter referred to an allegation that the former visited a casino.

During the debate on the motion to introduce the Sales and Services Tax (SST), Bung Moktar was recounting the price of goods at markets when Willie uttered ‘Is it not casino, Kinabatangan?’

Willie was referring to recent photographs that went viral online, purportedly showing a person resembling Bung Moktar sitting at a table in a casino.

Pausing for a few seconds, Bung Moktar then pointed his finger at Willie and accused him (Willie) of being rude, demanding the statement be retracted.

“What is this? (You are) Rude and ill-mannered (kurang ajar). YB (Yang Berhormat Willie) does not deserve to sit here.

“What do you want? You want to fight with me? Anytime. F*ck y**,” Bung Moktar retaliated.

His outburst attracted indignant reactions from other Pakatan Harapan (PH) members of Parliament, with Wong Kah Woh (PH-Ipoh Timur) demanding that he retract the foul phrase.

However, this failed to dampen Bung Moktar’s anger as he hurled further phrases like “You get drunk at night” against Willie.

Willie then responded by reminding Bung Moktar that his own opposition colleague, Datuk Seri Ismail Mohamed Said (BN-Kuala Krau) has constantly “schooled” MPs on the need to act with decorum in the Dewan Rakyat.

“This (pointing his finger at Willie) is not schooled. This is my floor. You sit down,” Bung Moktar directed his anger at Willie.

Bung Moktar continued his tirade by shouting ‘Kepala bapak’ (your father’s head) and ‘You play with prostitutes’ against Willie.

A visibly angry Willie then objected, declaring that Bung Moktar’s accusation was “truly disgusting”.

“You have no manners,” shouted Bung Moktar, to which Willie replied with ‘shameful’.

“If one wishes to teach someone, one must look in the mirror first,” Willie fired at Bung Moktar.

Amid the bedlam, Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee (BN-Beluran) stood up holding the Parliament rule book and cited Standing Order (36) (a), where an MP is not to touch on another MPs personal behaviour during Dewan Rakyat debates.

“He (Willie) touched on an MPs personal character. That is the source of the quarrel,” Ronald said, asking Deputy Speaker Datuk Rashid Hasnon to make a ruling on the matter.

With more MPs standing up holding their copies of the Parliament rule book, a war of words erupted among them, resulting in Hasnon announcing that the time was already 1pm and that session would resume at 2.30pm this afternoon.

As MPs begin leaving the hall, Bung Moktar took the opportunity to throw a parting shot at Willie with the words ‘Do not disturb a hornet’s nest’.

Meanwhile when session resumed at 2.30pm, Hasnon ordered Bung Moktar to retract his foul words.

The BN lawmaker duly retracted his words.

Today, Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng tabled the Sales Tax Bill for second reading and debate in Dewan Rakyat.

The Bill, along with a yet to be tabled Service Tax Bill 2018, is part of the government’s bid to bring back the Sales and Services Tax (SST) to replace the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
