Mahdzir hits out at those claiming he will quit Umno

PADANG TERAP: UMNO vice-president Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid has lashed out at those linking his name to a list of individuals who would be quitting the party.

The Padang Terap MP said the act of linking his name and publishing a picture of him with Sembrong MP Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein on the front and second page of a newspaper would only create a negative perception about him and the party.

Speaking to reporters after a programme here today, Mahdzir urged the parties concerned to take responsibility for their actions and find a way to correct the news report.

On Tuesday, Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed who is also Jeli MP quit UMNO after more than 40 years in the party.

Other than Mustapa, others leaders who have left included Kimanis MP Datuk Seri Anifah Aman and former Puteri UMNO chief Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin.

Meanwhile, Mahdzir hit out at several UMNO members for leaving the party when it was being tested and described them as having no strength and endurance in their struggle. - Bernama
