(Update) Ex-RMAF man is Pas' candidate for PD by-election

PORT DICKSON: Lieutenant Colonel (Rtd) Mohd Nazari Mokhtar has been named as Pas’ candidate for the upcoming Port Dickson by-election.

Mohd Nazari is Pas’ Tenggara, Johor chief.

The announcement was made by Pas deputy president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man at Pas’ Bukit Tembok headquarters in Pasir Panjang, last night.

He said Nazari, with his Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) background, is the perfect candidate for the by-election.

"He may be from Johor but Port Dickson is close to his heart because he used to serve here.

"Pas has decided to contest after Umno said it did not want to take part in the race." he added.

Mohd Nazari, 57, served in the RMAF for 28 years from 1980 to 2008. He is married to Naziroh Yusof and has five children.

The announcement also effectively put paid to speculation that former Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim would be contesting in the by-election on a Pas ticket.
