PKR Youth reminded to deliver manifesto promises

SHAH ALAM: PKR Youth has been reminded to fulfill the promises made in the 14th General Election (GE14) manifesto.

Penang delegate Fahmi Zainol said at this juncture, what was promised before winning the GE14 in May was very different from what the government is currently doing.

He added the current victory would probably endure for a few terms depending on the efforts and promises made to the people.

”PKR Youth needs to deliver the promises that we previously made and it should not be overlooked," he said.

Referring to the manifesto on the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN), Fahmi said the rights of the youths needed to be addressed.

At the same time, Fahmi expressed disapointment on the 2019 Budget presented by Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng, claiming the allocation for student groups was not beneficial and forthcoming.

“MyMaster and MyPhD scholarships did not have allocations in the Budget and some students are facing financial crisis to continue their studies."

Meanwhile, Fahmi opined that Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as PKR president and potentially as the eighth Prime Minister would be able to stop issues raised by the opposition on lesbians, gay, bisexuals and transgenders (LGBT), the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (ICERD) and religious issues.

“If Anwar is the PM, the issues raised by the opposition will not arise.

“Because history is able to answer this problem. Anwar’s previous credibility by heading the Malaysian Islamic Youth Movement (ABIM) and the National Islamic Students Association (PKPIM) proves that, “he said.
