MCA to send formal letter to BN calling for its dissolution

KUALA LUMPUR: The MCA central committee will send a formal letter to the Barisan Nasional (BN) supreme council soon, calling for a dissolution of the coalition.

The committee, in a statement, said it had met and unanimously resolved to affirm the resolutions passed at MCA's annual general assembly earlier this month.

It was previously reported that the party delegates decided to dissolve the coalition after looking at the current political scenario in the country.

The party is hoping that by doing so, it would be taking the first step to regain support for a political comeback by being a check-and-balance for the current government.

"The decision to push for a resolution to dissolve the coalition was made after taking into account, the current political scenario in the country, and the views of the young, and veterans.

"The tabling and approval of the resolution is the first step taken by MCA to regain support for a political comeback, by implementing checks and prudent balances to ensure the government is highly efficient, transparent and free from corruption," the statement read.

The party has since come under intense fire, especially from Umno after the resolution was passed.

Its detractors have made it clear that MCA should just leave BN instead of staying on in the coalition and calling for the dissolution.
