PUTRAJAYA: The Armada (youth) wing of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) today stressed that the party is no way a manifestation of Umno, and will never become like Umno.
Armada chief, Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman, said Bersatu should never follow in the footsteps of Umno, which he said was known for its culture of political corruption.
“Many have said that Bersatu has become Umno 2.0, or Umno 3.0. Too many styles like Umno. That many from Umno has migrated to Bersatu. That they’ve changes their principles. This is what we do not want in Bersatu.
“Bersatu is not Umno. Bersatu need not sell off the country for political survival. Bersatu does not need to become hypocrites and play up racial sentiments for the sake of politics.
Whether we win or lose in Putrajaya, Bersatu cannot and will not ever use Umno’s means and ways for political survival. This is the difference between us,” he said in his policy speech at the second Bersatu annual general assembly at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) here today.
