Party polls will resolve PPBM's internal issues, says Syed Saddiq

PUTRAJAYA: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia’s (PPBM) internal issues, especially those related to the appointment and removal of the party’s Armada division heads, will be resolved when elections are held next year.

PPBM Armada chief Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said those with strong grassroots support would win in the party elections, and that would put to rest the issue of PPBM division chiefs getting rid of Armada division chiefs.

He said PPBM should also deal with the issue by establishing clear rules on the appointment and firing of leaders before the party elections.

“The upcoming elections will resolve the issue because it will clearly show whether the grassroots support you or otherwise,” he said after attending the Armada general assembly today.

“I also believe this issue can be resolved fast if there is a strict standard on how one can be appointed or let go through a fair process while waiting for the (upcoming) election.”

Earlier, Syed Saddiq had revealed that certain PPBM division chiefs had removed Armada division heads at their own whim and fancy.

He said this should not have happened because the appointment of Armada leaders at the division level was done by the division chiefs themselves.

“This is not an issue of warlords but a misunderstanding among certain quarters.

“Warlords mean you are in charge of five or 10 divisions.

“This is a quarrel in the same division.”

On whether PPBM would open its debate sessions to the media, Syed Saddiq said he would bring the issue up for next year’s general assembly.

“I will propose it (for the sessions to be given media coverage) in the next party supreme council meeting,” he said.

This year, all PPBM debates are being held behind closed doors.
