Perak MB denies strained ties with DAP members in the state

IPOH: Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu has denied allegations circulating on social media platforms that his relationship with DAP members in the state was strained.

He was commenting on an Instagram account, @pemerhati_melayu that posted the following: "Kabo angin mengatakan MB Peja kalau program dianjurkan oleh DAP tidak boleh pergi atau dijemput..kononnya tak nak Cina sokong Peja betol ke?"

(Rumours say MB Peja (Ahmad Faizal) can’t attend or be invited to any programs organised by the DAP… allegedly so that the Chinese (community) will not support Peja, is that right?)

“It is not true… I have attended several DAP programmes and I was well-received by all the members and leaders.

"In fact, two days ago and even yesterday, I was with them in the Manjung district together with Paul Yong (DAP's Tronoh assemblyman) and no problems arose,” he said.

Faizal who is also Perak Pakatan Harapan (PH) chief said this at a press conference after distributing mandarin oranges in conjunction with Chinese New Year celebrations at Pasar Awam Chemor, here, today.

He added that people could say whatever they wanted to but what was more important was the good relationship established between the PH government and the parties within the coalition.

“I’m not lying and I’m not saying this politically or simply to cool it (alleged strain) down. This is the real situation, should I have an issue, I will voice it out…there’s no problem,” he said.

Faizal further added that he had recently recorded a video with DAP members in the state for this year's Chinese New Year.

“The video was not my idea but DAP members wanted us to be together in the video. It was quite fun recording it, there is no problem,” he said.
