Saifuddin: PH presidential council did not discuss any sort of cabinet reshuffle

KUANTAN: The Pakatan Harapan (PH) presidential council never discussed any reshuffle in the cabinet line-up.

PH secretary-general Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah said news circulated in social media recently about such a discussion was entirely untrue.

“There is no planned cabinet reshuffle... the presidential council never discussed the matter. Therefore this is just a rumour. As far as I’m concerned, it was never raised at the presidential council meeting,” he told reporters after attending the Pahang state action council meeting at Wisma Persekutuan, here.

Present were Implementation Coordination Unit director-general Datuk Zolkopli Dahalan and State Secretary Datuk Seri Dr Sallehuddin Ishak.

Saifuddin, who is foreign minister, was commenting on rumours that Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad would appoint Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali as his deputy after the Chinese New Year celebration period.

Rumours had been rife of changes in the cabinet line-up soon, and this gathered steam following a blog posting claiming that PH insiders had been talking about Dr Mahathir appointing Azmin as his deputy.

However, this was rubbished by the prime minister himself on Wednesday.
