'Pas should stop telling lies'

PETALING JAYA: Pas should stop telling lies now that it has been revealed that it paid RM1.4 million to Sarawak Report editor Clare Rewscastle-Brown, said PKR secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

The party, he said, should instead be steadfast to the principles of Islam.

“That Pas is continuing with its lies only shows the true attributes of the party. More and more is being revealed day by day. Everything will be revealed in the end.

“Instead of lying it is better for Pas to just come clean. The money for the out of court settlement to Rewcastle-Brown need not have come from the pockets or account of the Pas president but could be through an individual tasked to broker the deal.

“I will leave the people to make their own conclusion but in Islam, we are not taught to lie,” he said after launching an art exhibition here today.

Rewcastle-Brown had earlier confirmed that Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang had to foot Sarawak Report’s RM1.4 million legal bills in order to exit the defamation suit which he filed against the portal.

PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had before that claimed that Abdul Hadi paid Rewcastle-Brown to end their legal suit.

Saifuddin said the people, especially netizens, should accept the fact that Pas had made the payment to Rewcastle-Brown with a cheque into a valid account.

PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli, he said, had successfully deposited RM10 into the account which had been viralled on social media.

“The one who claimed the account is false is Nasarudin Tantawi (Pas information chief) but the ones who confirmed that the account is valid is Rafizi, an account, Rewcastle-Brown and a lawyer,” he said.
