KUANTAN: Pas has outlined four foundations in its political cooperation with Umno.
Party deputy president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said firstly, cooperation policies between the two parties could only be finalised by the central committee upon agreement by the Pas' Syura Council and central leadership.
He said these included matters pertaining seat allocations and election candidates.
He said secondly, Pas and Umno's state, division and branch leaders were allowed to organise joint programmes which did not contravene the parties' policies.
"The third foundation is to ensure that internal affairs remain the rights of the respective party including allowing Pas members to participate in Umno's internal programmes and vice versa to prevent misunderstanding (among the parties).
"Lastly, Pas leadership and members are allowed to attend programmes organised by Umno and other partners as speakers, panelists or to present working papers when invited," he said in his wrap-up speech at the last day of Pas 65th Muktamar here today.
Tuan Ibrahim said the guidelines were discussed and agreed upon at the Syura Council and central committee levels of both parties.
He said several adjustments and consensus were achieved including on by-elections and cooperation at the parliamentary level.
“(For instance), when Pas members are ejected from Dewan (Rakyat), Umno representatives would follow suit as a show of solidarity, and vice versa." he said.
