PH policies to remain when I take over, says Anwar

PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said today he will continue all existing Pakatan Harapan (PH) policies when he takes over as prime minister.

This follows concerns voiced by certain segments of investors that the Port Dickson member of parliament would discontinue current policies introduced by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

“Tun is acting based on PH policies and I am a Pakatan member. So I think that’s enough said,” he told reporters at the Perdana Leadership Foundation after the PH presidential council meeting, here, today.

His remark was welcomed by all PH leaders who were present during the press conference, including Dr Mahathir.

The prime minister, in response, said jokingly that Anwar would not have a choice but to see eye-to-eye with all PH leaders.

“So, a Pakatan member must follow (what others want). If not, you will get 'whacked',” he said.

Anwar is set to be the next prime minister after Dr Mahathir steps down, a promise made among all PH component parties before the May 9 general election last year.

However, as of now, no specific date has been given on when Anwar would succeed Dr Mahathir.
