Ku Li: No discussion in Umno on new PM candidate, but change in govt 'good'

KUALA LUMPUR: There has been no discussion in Umno over who will fill the vacant Prime Ministerial post after Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad relinquished the position on Monday.

Umno advisory council chairman Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah said the individual who will fill the role will be decided by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.

"No (discussion on who will be candidate for the Prime Minister post). The Yang di-Pertuan Agong will decide on it," he said when met at Menara Dato’ Onn here today.

On the current political situation, the Gua Musang Member of Parliament said it is time for a change of government.

“It is good to change the government. Our stock market has fallen. Our currency has dropped. Now, everyone doesn’t have a ministerial post,” he added.
