New coalition to form new state government in Johor

JOHOR BARU: A new coalition will form the new state government in Johor after Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar is satisfied that the coalition has secured a simple majority in the State Assembly.

A statement issued by the Johor Palace said the decision was made after Sultan Ibrahim personally interviewed each representatives to find out who they support to form the new government.

"The interview was witnessed by the State Secretary and the State Legal Advisor. The representatives were asked to sign a statutory declaration to declare their stand on whether they support Pakatan Harapan or a new coalition.

"Of the 56 representatives summoned for the interview, two were absent, namely Simpang Jeram and Puteri Wangsa," said the statement which was signed by the ruler's private secretary Datuk Jaba Mohd Noah.

Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub of Parti Amanah Negara is the Simpang Jeram assemblyman while the Puteri Wangsa assemblyman is Mazlan Bujang of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia.

The statement said after the interview, Sultan Ibrahim was satisfied that the new coalition have secured a simple majority to form a new government with 28 representatives choosing the coalition and 26 choosing PH.

"Therefore, the new coalition have the right to propose a candidate for the post of Menteri Besar before the exco line-up is appointed.

"The ruler hopes the state administration can be formed soon in order to ensure that the state's development can continue smoothly for the sake of the progress and prosperity of the people of Johor."
