New Perak exco members sworn in

IPOH: Seven state executive council (exco) members took their oaths of office today in front of the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah at Istana Kinta, here.

They were Datuk Saarani Mohamad (Umno-Kota Tampan), Datuk Dr Wan Norashikin Wan Noordin (Umno-Kampung Gajah); and Datuk Shahrul Zaman Yahya (Umno-Rungkup).

Also sworn in were Mohd Akmal Kamarudin (PAS-Selama), Razman Zakaria (PAS-Gunung Semanggol), Datuk Abdul Yunus Jamhari (Bersatu-Kuala Kurau) and Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohamed Radzi (Bersatu-Tualang Sekah).

Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu when met outside the palace said that another three excos would be appointed after the Movement Control Order (MOC) is lifted.

“Today, the Sultan of Perak has decreed to appoint seven state assemblymen to fill the exco line-up. However we still have another three seats that need to be filled, perhaps after MCO," he said.

Asked on the portfolios of the respective exco members, Ahmad Faizal said that they had yet to discuss the matter.

“God willing, I will meet all of them after this to have a heart-to-heart discussion in order to form a strong team for the people.

“I will be releasing a statement soon on the exco appointments and another statement concerning their portfolios," he added.

Yesterday, Ahmad Faizal in a special address with radio station Perakfm said that the state constitution did not specify any time frame for the appointment of state exco members.

He assured the people that since his appointment as the 13th Perak Menteri Besar, the state government has been fully functional.
