PM: Five Cabinet ministers yet to declare assets [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: Ninety seven per cent of Cabinet ministers have declared their assets, with only five members yet to do so, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said today.

Muhyiddin said the asset declarations were made according to the National Anti-Corruption Plan (NACP); and that he knows the identities of the five who have yet to comply with the plan.

"As of now, 97 per cent of Cabinet members have declared their assets.

"There are five who have yet to declare, and I will not name them, but I hope they would do so quickly," he told the Dewan Rakyat, today.

Muhyddin said besides Cabinet members, he will also persuade deputy ministers and Perikatan Nasional Members of Parliament to declare their assets.

The Pagoh MP also acknowledged that members of the previous Pakatan Harapan (PH) government managed to declare their assets.

Muhyiddin was replying to Teo Nie Ching (DAP-Kulai) who asked about the time allocated for the Prime Minister and his Cabinet ministers to declare their assets.

She asked Muhyiddin to clarify his statement that he had given his Cabinet a month to declare their assets on March 11.

Muhyiddin told the Dewan Rakyat that Cabinet members were actually given three months to declare their assets, which was a similar time frame in the previous PH administration.

Yesterday, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan, who is in charge of Law, said assets and earnings of Cabinet ministers, which have been declared to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), will only be made public once Cabinet makes a decision on the new method of displaying the information.

Takiyuddin told Parliament that the public would be free to access the declarations once they have been uploaded to MACC's website.
