Shafie keeps mum on rumours he is making a bid for CM post

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) chief Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal is keeping mum on rumours that he is amassing statutory declarations to support him in his bid to become the Sabah Chief Minister.

His official residence at Rumah Yayasan Sabah in Likas near here, has been a hotbed of activity since this morning, with supporters thronging the house.

Also present were all Warisan assemblymen.

Mohd Shafie, who emerged from the house briefly, did not comment on other matters except to give his thanks to his supporters as well as the media.

Asked to comment on Gabungan Rakyat Sabah's (GRS) announcement that Sabah Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia chief Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has been chosen as the new Chief Minister, Shafie only replied, "Thank you."

He also offered the same response when asked whether Warisan Plus would be going to Istana Negeri or whether the coalition would concede defeat.

"Thank you. We will continue to serve the people," he replied.

In the recently-concluded 16th Sabah election, GRS won 38 seats while Warisan Plus garnered 32. Three seats were won by independent assemblymen.

Meanwhile, Hajiji informed this evening that he has received his appointment letter as the new Sabah Chief Minister from Istana Negeri.
