Umno, Pas and Bersatu holding talks

KUALA LUMPUR: Representatives from Umno, Pas and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia have begun negotiations to resolve an impasse affecting their political cooperation.

Barisan Nasional secretary-general Tan Sri Annuar Musa said as signatories to the Muafakat Nasional (MN) pact's political charter, the negotiations between the three parties were held in a "familial atmosphere".

"I am happy to note that representatives from Umno and Bersatu have begun (their) talks. This includes Pas.

"God-willing, the MN pact will hold a meeting by Monday. Everything is being done in a familial atmosphere," Annuar tweeted today.

On Tuesday, Umno, during its political bureau meeting chaired by president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi proposed new terms in exchange for a continuous working relationship with the Perikatan Nasional government.

Umno secretary-general Datuk Ahmad Maslan had also said the party was considering of withdrawing its support for the PN.
