Pas endorses proposal for 'grand coalition' with non-PN parties

KOTA BARU: Pas has lauded Barisan Nasional secretary-general Tan Sri Annuar Musa's proposal to form a "grand coalition" with other fledgling or non-allied parties including Pejuang, Parti Warisan Sabah and Parti Makkal Sakti Malaysia.

Pas vice-president Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah said Annuar's proposal could benefit the nation on a large scale.

"This is a great plan which can help to strengthen Perikatan Nasional and secure the people's interests," he said when met at a talk on upholding Pas's late spiritual adviser Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat's legacy, today.

On another note, Mohd Amar said Pas would remain supportive of Budget 2021.

"It is normal to have disagreements during debates at Parliament. We hope for all Members of Parliament to support the budget, nonetheless."

Annuar, in a Facebook posting today, said a grand political coalition, which would include parties such as Pejuang, Makkal, Berjasa, Warisan, Muda and Parti Cinta Malaysia, among others, would resolve personality-centric politics.

He was referring to a statement by Pas deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man on the expected signing of a formal tripartite coalition between Umno, Pas and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia.

Annuar said the unity of the people should go beyond the Umno-Pas-Bersatu tripartite.
