IPOH: Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has arrived at the Perak Umno headquarters building here tonight for a special meeting on the now vacant state menteri besar post.
The Bagan Datuk member of parliament arrived at 8.12pm.
The meeting is being chaired by Perak Umno chief Datuk Saarani Mohamad. Also present is former Umno supreme council member Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Aziz who arrived at 8.14pm.
Ahmad Zahid is scheduled to meet the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah at Istana Kinta tomorrow at 10am.
Earlier, Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu tendered his resignation as Perak menteri besar, a day after he lost a vote of confidence in the State Assembly sitting.
The Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) deputy president told reporters this evening he had submitted his letter of resignation to Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah.
He also announced that all Perak state executive councillors (excos) had stepped down from their respective positions.
