PN's GE15 seat distribution strategy will remain confidential

SIK: Pas will not disclose details involving the seat distribution strategy adopted by Perikatan Nasional (PN) parties in facing the 15th General Election (GE15).

Party secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan, said the matter is still in the initial stages and as such, it is still too early to be discussed at the party level as the current Dewan Rakyat term only expires in 2023.

"This matter will only be discussed in a detailed manner at the party level and I am not in the position to talk about that.

"Every party that enters the election has its plan, whether the government or the opposition must have its plan, Pas has its strategy but we cannot tell the people because if you tell the people, then it is no longer a strategy," he said after a Malaysia Prihatin programme at Dewan Gemilang, here, today.

On Saturday, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia's (Bersatu) Datuk Razali Idris was reported as saying that PN will use the 'Faraid' method for the distribution of Parliamentary seats in preparing for GE15.

This means that the oldest party will get the most seats, which means PAS will get the highest number of seats to contest in GE15 compared to other parties in PN.

Faraid comes from the Islamic inheritance jurisprudence which determines the manner and order of distribution of assets.

Takiyuddin said so far, the discussion on the distribution of seats involving Pas and Bersatu as well as several other PN parties has just entered the first phase, of which apart from touching on seat distribution, they are also studying changes involving election candidates.
