Pas to hold hands with Bersatu in Perak [NSTTV]

IPOH: Pas has confirmed its political cooperation with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, at least in Perak, where the two parties had agreed to divide the number of state seats to be contested respectively.

The Islamist party had also proposed to contest under Perikatan Nasional logo for the 15th General Election.

Perak Pas commissioner Razman Zakaria said his party had been slated to run for 20 state seats out the existing 59, for while 20 would be contested by Bersatu.

Razman, who is also Perak Perikatan Nasional chairman, said 40 of the seats earmarked by both parties housed Malay majority voters.

The allocation of the remaining 19 seats would be negotiated between Bersatu, Gerakan and Pas' Supporters Assembly - the Islamist party's chapter which was formed by non-Muslims.

"However, the matter remains to be under the central leadership's prerogative. We will obey any of the decisions made. We have also voiced our intention to contest under the PN logo to our party president (Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang).

"In Perak, our preparations on cooperating with PN is almost at 100 per cent completion. Even if the election is to be held tomorrow, we will be ready," he told reporters during Perak Pas's GE15 fundraiser dinner last night.

Also present were Pas spiritual leader Datuk Hashim Jasin, Pas vice-president Datuk Idris Ahmad and Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu.
