Gerakan has no problem using Pas' 'moon' logo in GE15

KOTA BARU: Gerakan has no problem to use the Pas 'moon' symbol in Kelantan in the coming 15th General Election (GE15).

Its secretary-general Mak Kah Keong said the party hoped that the symbol could also be accepted by its members in Terengganu and Kedah.

"I believe there should be no problem for Gerakan to use the symbol in Terengganu and Kedah.

"At the moment, I have yet to be informed on the official decision (regarding the use of the logo) by the party's top leadership.

"The issue was discussed in Kedah recently and it should be no problem for Gerakan to comply in the event a decision on the matter has been made," he told reporters after launching the Kelantan Gerakan delegation meeting here today.

Present were Gerakan vice president Datuk Parameswaran Ganason and state party chairman Gan Awang.

Mak said Gerakan has nearly 300,000 members nationwide, including 7,000 in Kelantan.

He said Gerakan would leave it to the party leaders to decide whether to contest in DAP or MCA areas in the coming election.

"So far, we have not received any directives from our leaders, including the number of seats allocated to Gerakan for GE15," he said.

Pas secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan had recently said Perikatan Nasional (PN) election candidates contesting in Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah would be using the Pas symbol.

The decision, Takiyuddin said, had received the "green light" from PN leaders. Takiyuddin said Pas was open to using other symbols in other states.
