GE15: PKR running scared of KJ in Sg Buloh?

KUALA LUMPUR: There is a likelihood that PKR will change its candidate to contest for the Sungai Buloh parliamentary seat following Barisan Nasional (BN) candidacy to field Khairy Jamaluddin for the said seat.

Deputy PKR president Rafizi Ramli tweeted that he would bring the matter up with party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

"I will discuss with @anwaribrahim regarding voters' feedback in Sungai Buloh on PKR candidate.

"I appreciate all views. The final decision will be his (Anwar) as the party president," he tweeted today.

Following the announcement of Khairy's candidacy, numerous calls were made by netizens to PKR to change its candidate.

The confirmation of caretaker Health Minister Khairy's candidacy at one of the 22 parliamentary constituencies in Selangor ended months of speculation on the political future of the three times Rembau member of parliament.

Sungai Buloh is a PKR-stronghold. In the 2018 general election, R. Sivarasa retained the seat after he polled 43,631 votes in a three-cornered contest.

PKR is fielding its deputy Information chief (1) Datuk R. Ramanan for the Nov 19 election, having dropped Sivarasa.

Perikatan Nasional (PN) has named Mohd Ghazali Md Hamin from Pas as its candidate.

The voter turnout in GE14 for the Sungai Buloh parliamentary seat were 82.32 per cent, representing 12,229,514 electorate out of 14,940,624 registered voters.
