Another round of EPF withdrawal possible if PN wins GE15, says Muhyiddin

SHAH ALAM: Perikatan Nasional (PN) will consider allowing another round of Employee Provident Fund (EPF) withdrawal if it wins in the 15th General Election.

The coalition chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said if given the mandate to form the next government, PN would consider the request of many, to allow another round of withdrawal from the retirement fund.

He said in the past two years, the government had already approved several withdrawals namely I-Lestari and I-Sinar to ease the financial burden during Covid-19 pandemic.

"This time, if PN wins, we may consider it but that will be based on a targeted implementation.

"We have to see first whether there is enough for retirement or has it been emptied during Covid-19," he said replying to a question from the audience at the PH manifesto launch.

Muhyiddin unveiled the party's 234 offers in a manifesto themed 'Caring, Clean and Stable: Malaysia Gemilang' or 'PN Best', in Glenmarie, Shah Alam, last night.

Also present at the launch was caretaker Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin, Datuk Seri Azmin Ali and caretaker Education Minister Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin.

He said the coalition's manifesto, packaged into 12 main pillars and 30 approaches, has a dedicated pillar to empowering youth, women and young families.

Other promises include special discounts for first time houseowners, sports and community centre at each district and a 25 per cent discount PTPTN loan for those who graduate with at least a second class upper degree.
