BN's GE15 manifesto highlights need for high-quality, resilient healthcare

KUALA LUMPUR: Barisan Nasional (BN) promises to double the annual allocation for the public healthcare system from RM36 billion to RM77 billion by 2027.

Developing high-quality and resilient public healthcare is one of the 99 efforts outlined in the BN election manifesto for the 15th General Election (GE15).

"We seek to develop a resilient and high-quality healthcare ecosystem, complete with the necessary facilities and an adequate supply of highly-skilled healthcare personnel.

"We also plan to construct more specialist hospitals for specific medical disciplines such as infectious diseases and mental health.

"In addition, we seek to increase speciality and sub-speciality training opportunities in private hospitals to increase the number of medical experts," the statement read.

At the same time, BN said women returning to the workforce after a career break will not have to pay income tax for five years if Barisan Nasional (BN) becomes the government after GE15.

This is among the promises BN has outlined for women in their GE15 manifesto unveiled tonight.

BN also pledged to provide tax deduction incentives to employers who introduce flexible working hours for working mothers.

It also promised to establish the first women's public specialist hospital that specialises in women's health issues, the first women's public university and a national women's economic development corporation.

BN also vowed to develop a national subsidy scheme for mammograms and cervical cancer screening.

The coalition promised to establish a women's leadership academy at a public university as a special recognition of the significant and immense potential of women leaders, and a women's economic development bank.
