GE15: Muhyiddin hints on Pas Menteri Besar for Perlis, Pahang

PENDANG: Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin hinted that an elected representative from Pas would be made the Menteri Besar in Perlis and Pahang should the coalition manage to capture both states in the 15th General Election (GE15).

Muhyiddin, who is also Parti Pribumi Bersatu (Bersatu) president, said the party would give full support for Pas to lead both states.

"It seems that Perlis, insyaAllah, will fall to us and if that happens, Pas (elected rep) will be the Menteri Besar in Perlis.

"In Pahang, Tuan Ibrahim (Pas deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man) is contesting both parliament and state seats. If we win Pahang, Tuan Ibrahim will become the Menteri Besar," Muhyiddin said during his speech at a PN rally here last night.

Present were Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, who is also Kedah PN chairman, and PN candidate for Pendang parliamentary seat Datuk Awang Hashim.

He said Bersatu would not mind Pas leading the government in both states, for as long as PN rose to power.

"I sense a strong support for PN lately. I hope in the upcoming two weeks this will lead to a huge wave or tsunami to defeat both Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan(PH)," he said, to a loud cheer from the crowd at Pendang Convention Centre here.

Muhyiddin later urged Umno and BN members, disgruntled by the corruption issues involving their party leaders, to vote for PN instead in the GE15.

"I am telling this to Umno supporters. This general election is not about Suraya (BN candidate for Pendang, Datuk Suraya Yaakob), but it is about saving the country.

"You don't have to leave Umno, for as long as you vote for PN. I do understand if they still love Umno, but they are unhappy with Umno leaders like Najib and Zahid," he said, referring to former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

"I am calling Umno members, especially in Pendang to vote PN and do their part in saving the country from further damage," he said.

Muhyiddin told Umno members to consider the speculations regarding a discreet pact between Umno leadership to work with PH chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to form a government after the GE15.

"The other side (BN) has hinted that perhaps they will not be able to win enough seats to form a new government, thus they are willing to collaborate with just anyone to form a government after the GE15.

"You know why? Probably if he (Zahid) can't become the prime minister, he can work with Anwar.

"I heard that an audio recording has surfaced, talking about many things such as a pact between BN and PH, a promise that Anwar will be made the prime minister, and Zahid being appointed as the deputy prime minister.

"But I wish to remind (Umno members) that in PH, there is DAP," he said.

Yesterday, Zahid was reported as saying BN was open to collaborate with any party or coalition, not only with PH, should the party fail to form a majority government after the GE15.
