GE15: KJ and Chong Wei team up in a badminton match

SUBANG: A busy campaigning period did not prevent Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for Sungai Buloh constituency, Khairy Jamaluddin, from leisure and living a healthy lifestyle.

Today, he played a doubles badminton match with national singles badminton icon Datuk Dr Lee Chong Wei.

The caretaker health minister also spent almost an hour with youngsters at Kampung Baru Subang here.

The former youth and sports minister said he was proud of Lee's achievements and hoped he would continue to inspire the younger generation to represent the country in sports at an international stage.

"We have been friends even before I held the youth and sports minister portfolio.

"We are proud of Chong Wei's participation today. I hope he can continue to inspire young athletes.

"He became the world No. 1 not from his talent alone, but also through hard work," he said at Dewan Badminton Yosin, in a match that was organised by Lee Tick Wah.

When asked on the acceptance by new voters, Khairy said the youths would take advantage of the opportunity during the 15th General Election to determine Malaysia's future.

"I hope young and new voters will come out in big numbers to vote on Nov 19. This is their first platform to vote since the amendment to the Federal Constitution was made to lower voting eligibility.

"Now more and more people are aware of the general election and social media platforms are very important for the younger generation.

"I may not have a chance to meet all youngsters. However, based on social media platforms, they are very interested in this election campaign," he added.
