GE15: BN will lose Perlis, says Zahidi

PADANG BESAR: A former Barisan Nasional (BN) leader predicts the coalition will lose Perlis in the 15th General Election.

Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin, who is running as an independent candidate in Padang Besar, told Utusan Malaysia that BN would lose at least nine state seats, as well as the Arau parliamentary seat.

Zahidi said the prediction is based on research and the fact that the party leadership had dropped "winnable candidates".

"In Arau, they will definitely lose Guar Sanji, Pauh, Simpang Empat and Sanglang. In Kangar, BN is expected to lose Kuala Perlis, Indera Kayangan, Sena and Bintong.

"BN will likely lose in Titi Tinggi. Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim will have no problem in taking Arau. In the Padang Besar parliamentary seat, it is still 50-50," said Zahidi at Kampung Lubuk Machang here.

Zahidi, who won in Padang Besar on a BN ticket in 2018, was not selected by the coalition to defend the seat.

This time around, he is going up against Datuk Zahida Zarik Khan (BN), Ko Chu Liang (Warisan), Rushdan Rusmi (Perikatan Nasional) and Muhammad Saad @ Yahya (Pakatan Harapan).

He is also contesting the Titi Tinggi state seat as an independent.
