Anwar promises pay cut for himself, ministers if PH wins GE15

IPOH: With a mandate to form the next government, Pakatan Harapan (PH) today pledged to reduce the ministers' number and pay by half.

Its chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said this will be the first step taken by PH to secure the people's confidence in the new administration and governance.

"The number of 70 ministers, which we had previously will be cut by half, their salaries will be cut by half too. The same goes with the prime minister's pay.

"If you want to be a minister under my cabinet, you need to accept this condition. This is the first step we will take to convince the people," he said.

The Tambun parliamentary seat candidate said this in his mandate speech addressing over 5,000 people in Jalan Tanjung Rambutan here, today.

The PKR president said he wanted to introduce a new culture in Malaysia, where leaders dismissed corrupt and greedy practices.

"God willing, we will swear in a new prime minister and this prime minister will not bring with him the corrupt and greedy cultures which we had before." he said.
